"What I make is about vulnerability and strenght, about the road to freedom.
And for me, freedom is the beginning of creativity."
Micky Hoogendijk's work explores the concept of human connection in the broadest sense of the word. Her bronze sculptures, with anonymous figures that are interwined or stand apart, delve into complex dynamics of human connection. With these works she emphasizes the power and strenght found in human relationships, while also revealing the beauty of vulnerability. Born in Amsterdam in 1970, MIcky's journey through the arts has been marked by exploration and creativity. Growing up among artists, gallery owners and performers, she was destined for a life in the creative sector. In the 1990s she worked with the famous Dutch artist Rob Scholte and became known as an actress. Micky's artistic evolution took a turn in 2012 when she discovered photography, using a camera given to her in 2009 by her late mother. Her self-taught, evocative portraits quickly gained international recognition, leading to exhibitions around the world. Living in Amsterdam in the historic Huize Zonnewijzer, Micky continues to shape her unique vision. Her project , The Ones at Home Gallery, bridges her sculptural and photographic practices and invites visitors to explore teh depths of human existence through her lens. Micky Hoogendijk's art is a journey through time, space and the ever-evolving nature of human relationships.
